Goals from Ramires and Didier Drobga saw Liverpool lose the FA Cup final against Chelsea. The world's famous club cup will not be returning to Merseyside after the Brazilian capitalised slack defending by the Reds to secure victory in this evening's showpiece clash at Wembley. An early Jay Spearing mistake allowed Ramires to run free, outpacing Jose Enrique in the process, before he beat Pepe Reina down to his near left-hand post, to give the West Londoners the first leg of a potential double. Drogba added a second just five minutes after the interval after he was teed up by Frank Lampard, as he fired through the legs of Martin Skrtel and past Reina to extend the advantage. But Liverpool refused to be beaten as substitute Andy Carroll, on for Spearing, rifled home to reduced the deficit and offer renewed hope to the travelling Kop, although it inevitably proved fruitless despite a spirited fightback in the latter stage of the second half.
